World Health Communication Week - Launch

Healthcare touches everyone’s life but rarely the care providers focus on communication as a tool of empathy. The World Health Communication Week has been ideated to fill this gap.  Health Parliament will hold a global panel discussion on ‘Healthcare Communication’ and launch the World Health Communication Week at 2:30 p.m.(CET) on 31st March 2023.

Medical science has advanced, and for most diseases, we either know how to cure or manage them. Overall, the focus is on providing treatment. However, we have still not addressed the increasing burden of diseases. More funding or healthcare coverage has not resulted in better health outcomes because the world has yet to focus on the ‘basics’ of health. Communication’ between care providers and care seekers remains one of the biggest challenges across communities and countries. To address this challenge, Health Parliament proposes ‘World Health Communication Week’ to bring the focus on the quality and appropriateness of two-way communication. We have a doctor’s day, nurses’ day, and several other days focusing on diseases; like cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis, etc. (https://www.who.int/campaigns), but ‘healthcare communication’ has no day dedicated to it, and without addressing the communication (interaction between the care seeker and care provider), we cannot deliver appropriate healthcare interventions. Health Parliament invites global stakeholders to celebrate World Health Communication Week every year from the 1st week of April, concluding with World Health Day i.e.,7th April. We should use this opportunity to focus on all aspects of healthcare-related communication and conduct programs and campaigns to address the ‘interaction’ and ‘information’ about healthcare.

Look forward to your participation in this important panel discussion for the launch of World Health Communication Week.
