POSTPONED - The 2nd EU Health Summit

As an EU Health Coalition, we strongly believe that the EU has an important role to play in building a healthy future for Europe. Ensuring that all European citizens can live healthier lives must be a priority for the new European Parliament and European Commission. The 2nd EU Health Summit organised by the EU Health Coalition, will take place on the 4th and 5th May of 2020 in Brussels. Last year, we presented 20 recommendations for a healthier Europe, calling on the EU institutions to bring about necessary changes. Next year’s two-day conference will focus on the implementation of these recommendations, as we enter a fresh cycle for European policymaking, while assessing the necessary steps to address health challenges in the EU and delivering more for patients across Europe. On one hand, Europe has made huge advances in terms of health. EU citizens can expect to live up to 30 years longer than they did a century ago. Cancer death rates have fallen by 20% over the last 20 years. HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence, but a life-long chronic condition when treated. At the same time, critical health challenges for Europe remain to be addressed. On the other hand, our healthcare systems and society still face significant challenges that require new types of partnerships. This is why the 29 organisations of the EU Health Coalition joined forces in 2018 to present concrete recommendations at the 1st ever EU Health Summit and why the next Summit in 2020 will be key to understand what still needs to be done to provide solutions to the challenges we face. Please register your interest here for this next edition of the EU Health Summit and we very much look forward to welcoming you! About the EU Health Coalition: the EU Health Coalition was created after the first ever EU Health Summit, which took place in November 2018, in order to promote a shared vision of health in Europe, based on jointly developed recommendations. The purpose is to ensure health remains high on Europe’s political agenda and bring the necessary changes to address the unprecedented challenges and opportunities driven by an ageing population and the increased prevalence of chronic diseases that healthcare systems and citizens across Europe are facing. The EU Health Coalition is composed of patient organisations, EU research-oriented medical societies, industry organisations, providers, regional and local health authorities and other relevant stakeholders that share a common vision for health.
