AAL Programme Calls for 2018: Three calls of interest to members

ECHAlliance took part in the call launch this year in Brussels for the AAL Programme at the end of January.
Members of the ECHAlliance and partners should note that this year there are three separate opportunities all targeting Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation.
The first of these is the
AAL Collaborative Projects
This fund will support projects from participating countries looking to create Smart Solutions for Ageing Well up to a value of €2.5 million. More information about this call will be released in early February but this call targets the support of innovative, transnational and multi disciplinary collaborative projects to improve the quality of life for older adults in Europe through digital solutions.
Projects need to show a user centric technology development approach, clear route to market + provide end user added value
This year there is an open call targeting 8 areas:
- Health and Care
- Living Building
- Leisure and Culture
- Viability and Abilities
- Mobility and Transport
- Work and Training
- Safety and Security
- Information and Communications

Small Collaborative Projects
Following feedback the AAL are also launching this year a Small Collaborative Projects Fund which have a maximum funding of €300,000 and a duration of 6 months targeting closer to market solutions.

Smart Ageing Prize Fund - €50,000
Lastly the AAL launched the very small but exciting Smart Ageing prize Fund.
This opportunity will be of interest to all ECHAlliance members who use innovative digital technologies to engag older adults in social and stimulating activities, promoting active and connected ageing. Especially if your solution is LESS than 18 months to market

Prize: €50,000 (Split between €35,000 first prize, second prize €10,000 and third prize €5,000)

AAL Prize eligible countries
This prize is open to individuals, groups and organisations located in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom
Stage of development
At the time of applying for the award, applicants must already have a working prototype. If selected among the 15 semi-finalists, the prototype will have to be brought to the Academy event in Summer 2018, demonstrating the solution’s technical proof of concept. The solution should be presented as a viable business opportunity by the time the challenge prize is awarded in October 2018 and should be aiming to win its first paying customers within 12 – 18 months.
