The Active and Assisted Living Joint Programme (AAL JP) was launched for the period from 2014 to 2020. Together with its predecessor Ambient and Assisted Living Joint Programme (2008 – 2013), it has been investing about €650 Million in ICT projects with an ageing dimension. This consultation aims to collect views of the public about the implementation of Public-Public Partnerships under the Horizon 2020 funding programme.
Date: From 27/01/2017 to 30/04/2017
The AAL JP is a public-public partnership, which pools funding between Member States (or Associated States) and the EU. It financially supports projects that improve the quality of life for the elderly while making health and social care systems sustainable through the deployment of ICT solutions.
Article 185 initiatives
Joint funding programmes like this are called Art. 185 initiatives. By 2020, participating states will have jointly invested more than €5 billion of public funds into research and development through these public-public partnerships. This consultation covers three of them: Active and Assisted Living Joint Programme, Eurostars2 and BONUS.
Director General of the Directorate General for Research and Innovation, Mr. Robert-Jan Smits says: "These initiatives have many stakeholders – from ministries in member countries, funding agencies, companies, universities, individual researchers up to individual citizen benefitting from the results of individual R&D projects. That's why the results of the public consultation, which was opened on 27 January, will be important to shape the future of Joint Programming in Europe. We need your feedback to make Art. 185 initiatives even more relevant and more attractive for the best participants."
