Following the success of the first workshop, the European PEPPER consortium will run the Second Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Diabetes (AID) as part of the 16th Conference of Artificial Intelligence in MEdicine (AIME).
The complexity of diabetes has lead Artificial Intelligence (AI) to become a key technology to provide solutions that empower both patients and caregivers in their everyday lives.
Several publicly EU-funded projects have been carried out to support individuals with this chronic disease, such as: TIDDM, EMPOWER, MOSAIC, MOBIGUIDE, COMMODITY12, DIADVISOR, DIABEO, and the newly-formed PEPPER project. However, there is still a lot of work to be done.
The aim of the AID workshop is to assimilate lessons learned, and future directions of research, as a first step towards finally finding compatible and complementary tools for people suffering from diabetes.
PEPPER: diabetes prediction & self-management
A predictive diabetes self-management system - that's the aim of PEPPER. This project is developing a personalised decision support system for type 1 diabetes management that will make predictions based on real-time data in order to empower individuals.
