One Belt, One Road...

The Government of China has launched recently its programme “One Belt One Road”. is a development strategy and framework, proposed by Chinese paramount leaderXi Jinpingthat focuses on connectivity and cooperation among countries primarily between the People's Republic of China and the rest of Eurasia, which consists of two main components, the land-based "Silk Road Economic Belt" (SREB) and oceangoing "Maritime Silk Road" (MSR). The strategy underlines China's push to take a bigger role in global affairs. China is developing its trade and investment ties with Europe, with for instance 39 routes linking 16 Chinese cities to 15 European ones, including a rail network that cuts across Central Asia to Iran, through Turkey to Russia, Poland and Spain.

This conference will be the opportunity to understand the impact of the One Belt, One Road strategy in the healthcare sector and to meet key Chinese government representatives, academics and companies.

2017 key themes: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Big Data and Healthy China 2030

During the past few years, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been continually recognised across the world, beside the occidental medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine becomes one of the major topic within the “One Road, One Belt” strategy to develop overseas cooperations around education and training, product R&D and trade exchanges with Europe, with the presence of government officials and affiliate corporations.

During the last few years, Big Data for Healthcare has been one of the fastest growing industry in China. With Guiyang National Data Center now established, the Chinese stakeholders are looking for international connections. At the same time, the data cloud computing initiatives continue to expand such as in ZhongWei, where is the AWS data center located. The data platform has contributed to the digitalisation of healthcare platforms. It is unique place to meet with those 2 core operators and seek international cooperation and expand global services.

Last year, China has launched a new plan called 2030 Healthy China. Using Digital technologies and tools for the population wellbeing & healthy living, the goals are to improve people’s health, to increase the life expectancy, to augment the health service capacity, to develop prevention and wellness programmes for all citizens, and support the growth of healthcare industry. Synergies are expected with scientists, governments and providers from Europe to assist China's plan.
